The Trinity River, which flows through the western part of Dallas, is actually a lesser-known but truly soothing spot. In recent years, the area around it has been undergoing redevelopment, and it’s quickly becoming one of the city’s most talked-about destinations. If you’re visiting Dallas, it’s definitely worth stopping by. I found myself completely taken with the place — next time, I’d love to spend more time just soaking it all in.
Let’s Head to the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge
If you want to enjoy views of Dallas from the Trinity River, head first to the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge. This bridge is exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists, offering a safe and up-close way to take in the scenery. It’s also a popular photo spot with the Dallas skyline and Reunion Tower in the background.
Striking Architecture Unfolds Beyond the Bridge

As you walk across, you’ll be treated to a view of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge — a stunning structure designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The bridge features a graceful 122-meter-high arch and 58 radiating cables, creating a breathtaking and elegant silhouette.
Strolling the Riverside: Trinity Skyline Trail
The Trinity Skyline Trail runs along the river, offering a scenic walking route with both river and city views. As you pass beneath the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and the Margaret McDermott Bridge, you’ll be treated to sweeping vistas of downtown Dallas.
Also, a Great Spot to Unwind

The Ronald Kirk Bridge was originally a vehicular bridge, later converted into a pedestrian-friendly space. Thanks to its wide pathways, it’s perfect for walking, jogging, or cycling. The bridge features artistic play areas, benches, and colorful deck chairs, making it a relaxed spot to unwind while enjoying the stunning views. We sat back in one of the deck chairs here and soaked in a blissful moment.
Picture-Perfect Views, Day or Dusk
From this bridge, you’ll enjoy postcard-worthy views of downtown Dallas, including its skyscrapers and the iconic Reunion Tower. Spanning about 642 meters in length, a round trip comes to roughly 1.3 kilometers — just right for a casual stroll. The bridge is especially popular at sunset and after dark, when the city lights come on and the atmosphere transforms into something truly magical.
