Hi, I’m Summer!
A few years ago, I tried skateboarding for the first time, and instantly fell in love with it! It was such a joyful discovery that reminded me you’re never too old to try something new. Now, whenever I have a spare moment, I’m out skating and soaking it all in.
Between raising kids, doing housework, and working part-time, I also study graphic design, take walks with my dogs, and enjoy music, movies, and DIY projects. I’m a foodie at heart—I love discovering new recipes and savoring delicious meals.
I was born and raised in Japan and moved to the U.S. at 25. And before I knew it, I had spent more than half my life here. Both Japan and the U.S. are home to me, each holding a special place in my heart.
Whenever I visit Japan now, the everyday sights that once felt so ordinary feel completely fresh and full of wonder. Old friends tease me, saying I see everything “like a total foreigner” now—and they might be right. At the same time, even after years in the States, I keep finding new things to discover.
Living between two cultures reminds me every day that both countries are filled with surprises and places I’ve yet to explore.
One day, the thought came to me:
“I want to dive deep into the places I love—Japan and the U.S.—and share all the little sparks of beauty I find.” A quiet wish I’d kept deep inside had finally taken shape in words. From that moment on, it seems a new journey had already begun.
That’s how this blog was born—with the idea of writing vibrant, story-filled travel essays from California.
I’d love to share the joy of travel, beautiful views, and unexpected moments with you. So come along—read, explore, and let’s journey together.
Because travel isn’t just about where you go—it’s also a journey of the soul. If anything here inspires your next adventure, I’ll be truly happy.
Let’s fill life with small joys and fresh excitement, one sunny moment at a time.
Let’s create your Sunshine.
